Schedule Monthly Updates in a Day with HubSpot Social Media Tool

December 2022

"Every minute you spend in planning saves 10 minutes in execution; this gives you a 1,000 percent return on energy!"

These words by Brian Tracy might as well be the motto of every marketing specialist. Why waste time shooting in the dark when you can turn your great content into a comprehensive plan and always be on schedule?

HubSpot social media scheduler - a deep dive

If you’re coming here from our last article, welcome! And if you have no clue what I am referring to, check out the first part of our social media planning series. I’ll give you a few minutes.

Are you with me yet? Then let’s get a move on, shall we?

Last time, we focused on general benefits and tools you can use to automate your social media posts. This time, we’ll dive deeper into specific features you can find in HubSpot and explain how to use them to create and share content on social media exactly when your target audience will see it. Here is everything you need to know!

But first, let’s start with one question that might circulate in your head right now…

Why use HubSpot social media calendar?

Consistent social media management can take a lot of work time, especially if you decide to post more frequently, keeping your audience engaged. Automating the scheduling process comes with a list of benefits, which we described in detail in our previous article

However, HubSpot offers a few life-saving tools and features for experienced and beginner marketers that are difficult (impossible even!) to find in any other software. They will speed up the process and take the workload off your shoulders.

  • HubSpot tool integration: With other HubSpot products already in use, integrating the social media scheduler is easy and brings all the essential features into one place. You’ll find it convenient to plan and analyze your social media on the same platform you operate your CMS, sales, and customer services.

HubSpot offers integrations with key social media platforms and provides essential features. This means that marketers with moderate social media needs won’t be overwhelmed or waste time learning the features they won’t need in their daily jobs. On the other hand, if you have elaborate social media scheduler needs, you might need some support with the integration. In such a case, hit us up! Our HubSpot solutions experts will work on the right solution for you.

  • Social monitoring: Once you publish your content, you can actively track your audience’s engagement. All activity, filtered by the network, is visible in your inbox – including new followers, likes, comments, and retweets. The HubSpot mobile app also allows you to monitor your followers' interactions.
  • “Publish like a human” feature: Automated publishing ensures consistency, but it may feel like a bot delivers your content. To make it appear more natural and as though an actual person is posting it, you can toggle on the “Publish like a human.” HubSpot will publish your posts within 10 minutes before or after the scheduled time.

  • Canva integration: Let’s be honest; the first thing we notice when scrolling through our social media feed is colorful images. To get your followers' attention, you need to attract them with beautiful imagery. HubSpot allows you to create original graphic designs in Canva directly from your scheduling dashboard. All you have to do is click the “Design with Canva” button.

  • Easy to digest visual data: HubSpot's social reports provide precise visual data on your social media performance. You can track metrics for followers, clicks, impressions, and assign different posts to specific campaigns and analyze traffic across one marketing effort.

Sounds pretty useful, right?

Now that we know why it’s worth your attention, we can look at how to use HubSpot social media tool. Don’t worry if the process seems confusing and difficult to grasp. We’ll get through it step by step to equip you with all the skills you need to create the ideal social media schedule.

Connect your social media to HubSpot

Before fully automating your social media posts, you must add the chosen networks to your HubSpot account. You can connect the following social media:

  • Facebook
  • Instagram
  • LinkedIn
  • Twitter
  • YouTube
  1. Go to your account’s settings ⚙️ and navigate to the Social tool in the Marketing menu.

  1. Click on the Connect accounts button.

  1. Choose the network you want to connect to, log into your account and follow the instructions.

With this out of the way, you can start planning your schedule for social media success!

Create and schedule HubSpot social media posts

The HubSpot social media tool is where all the magic happens! You can start planning your schedule and no longer wait for the publishing day to share your posts manually. It will only take a few steps:

  1. Once you log into your HubSpot account, navigate to Marketing and click on the Social tool in the drop-down menu.

  1. In the Manage tab, you can create and schedule social posts – single and in bulk.

  1. “Create social post” button will redirect you to selecting a platform to publish a post.

  1. After choosing the platform, you’ll see a page where you can write your copy, insert images, video, and emojis, and add links to make your content interesting for your audience. At this point, you can assign your post to a specific marketing campaign.

You have the option to post your content right away or schedule it for later. Let’s look at the second scenario.

  1. Use the calendar to pick the appropriate date and the drop-down menu to set the right time.

After new posts, they will be visible in your Manage section. There, you can view published, scheduled, and draft posts and sort the content list by accounts, publishing platform, date range, campaign, and author.

Moreover, if you want to clone, edit, delete or see the details of each post, you can do that without logging into your social media accounts. Every one of these actions can be performed from your HubSpot dashboard.

Analyze your social data for maximum performance

The Analyze tab provides data on the performance of your social media content. It allows you to determine which social network attracts the biggest audience or which posts are most and least shared and interacted with. You can use this information to make data-based changes for better future content performance.

To view detailed reports, you can filter them by social media accounts, date range, and marketing campaigns. The "Compare date ranges" option lets you compare previous and current performance to determine your progress.

HubSpot delivers data on only published posts not older than one year. This includes:

  • Audience
  • Published Posts
  • Interactions
  • Clicks
  • Shares
  • Impressions
  • Sessions
  • New Contacts
  • Top Posts

Let’s see what kind of information you can squeeze from each of these reports!

Keep track of your audience’s engagement

The essential part of managing social media is monitoring the engagement of your audience. HubSpot gives you social tools you can use to identify the most attention-grabbing content, interact with your followers and gather information to get to know them better. All your social interactions are accessible through HubSpot social media scheduler so that you can jump into the conversation on the go.

  1. From the social page, navigate to the Monitor tab.

  2. You’ll see all the activity in your Inbox Stream, which you can sort by network and status: new only, archived or all.

  1. Go to Conversations to react or reply to a comment. See what reactions your content is receiving in the Interactions tab, and check New Twitter Followers if you want to find out some details about your Twitter audience.

*Remember that the content you want to monitor in your Inbox Stream must be published via HubSpot (except for Tweets), and posts older than 31 days will no longer be visible.
